Out with the old...

After I dropped some items off at Berry Good Buys, went shopping at Goodwill. Out with the old junk, in with the new junk! I found three cute glasses for $1 each! Great for candles!

Junkin' Journey

Our junkin' journey would not be complete without staying at the Heritage Haus in Carmine! Visit Deb at: http://diddebdoit.blogspot.com/.

Above is Matt & Deb in the kitchen making one of their wonderful breakfast they serve to their guests. Don't you just love a man in the kitchen! Deb does!

Ummm...good fresh fruit! Along with the fruit, they serve muffins, bacon, cheese grits, hash browns, eggs cooked some fancy way, juice, and coffee.

Meet my Sista! Deb made her and I was lucky enough to win her! She has the words Imagine, Create, and Inspire on her little pocket! I so hope she helps to inspire me! I just love her...thank you Deb!
A junkin' journey would not be complete without a cart, hat, boots, and a raincoat! The hat was made by my granddaughter Rianah for Grandparents Day! I call it my Princess Granny Hat because it has little crowns on it! Casey gave me a gift card to Lowes...a perfect gift!
Thanks Deb and Matt for a wonderful stay at Heritage Haus! We miss you already!

Trust In Your Dreams

Sweet Jessica just doesn't know how much we bonded this weekend! She had me all in a tizzy trying to figure out how to get this stuff connected! I thought it turned out pretty good for someone who doesn't know what she's doing!

Mixed Media Collage Workshop

I love the Altered Muse's workshops! Carrie Gunning was the instructor for this one. She is so talented! Here's my creation! This one is a mixed media collage using acrylic paint, matt mod podge, wall paper, paper images, and finished it off with a gold wash.

Carrie helped with arranging and used cream acrylic paint around the edges of images and filled in other areas. Every workshop I think is the best ever! This is another best ever workshop!

Wire Wrap Workshop

Shirley was the instructor for the Wire Wrap workshop at The Altered Muse. Above is my creation of wire wrap! The stone was fused in a previous class by Shirley. I love it!

Bees Wax Collage Workshop

The Altered Muse held a Bees Wax Collage workshop given by Renea Hipp. Here's the canvas I created with Renea's help! In case you are wondering, TG stands for Traveling Gypsy!

It has a black background with collage images mod podged and brushed with a coat of bees wax on the top surface. The sides are painted black with red stripes. After you apply the bees wax, take a hot gun and melt the wax until smooth. Use a latex glove to buff the wax to make it shiny.

Visit the Altered Muse's website http://thealteredmuse.blogspot.com/! Pam has the cutest store and has great workshops!!! They are so much fun!

Creatively Inspired!

Creatively Inspired is the name of the cutest shop in Keller! Sandie, the owner, sells local artists' items...jewelry, paintings, clay pieces... I loved this store because everything is so unique! I don't think there's two of any one item. Her prices are great!

Support your local artists! If you go, tell her I sent you! The website below will have the store's address and info! Have fun!

Altered Muse - ATC Workshop - June 23, 2009

On June 23rd, I attended an ATC workshop at the Altered Muse. Didn't know what ATC stood for until that night! ATC stands for Artist Trading Card! Who would have thunk!!! Not that I think I'm at artist by any means, but it was so fun making the cards.

The card I made is "Legacy" below. We made two cards and Pam made us give one away. We all wanted to keep our own cards! But we all ended up with someone else's card, which was pretty neat.

I love the paint I used and can't find it in any of the stores. So if you know where to find Jaquard Lumiere paint. Please let me know!

Inspirational Journey!

Double trouble! Amy and Deb...
After Amy and I got back from Deb Taylor's workshop, I have been totally inspired! It was no junkin' journey! It was more like getting in touch with your innerself.

After attending a retirement seminar at work, it hit me that I'm on my way out of this ole' world and better start having fun! In my younger day, I loved art classes, drawing, painting...

After the trip, I decided to get into my "creative side." Here's what I've been doing...
It took a week to put this little table together! I'll take pics of the workshop when I get through with it. The grandkids will love it! They love to "create" and will be in heaven!
An old frame with vintage pics of my dad's family ...
Amy gave me the "T" as a Christmas present. I changed the ribbon and hung it in a vintage frame. I was going to paint the frame white, but decided I liked the dark vintage look! Can change later...
Shawna helped me move rooms around! We moved the white bed into the guest room, brass bed in the back room, bookcase into the "workshop." I decided I was too old to do all this moving stuff.

LoneStar Antiques!

I could not wait to go to LoneStar Antiques today! I just wanted to push all the cars out of my way! I could not get there fast enough! Last week I saw this cute little suitcase and didn't buy it. I thought about it all week and decided if it was still there it was meant to be! The first thing I did when I got to LoneStar was to try to find this little suitcase in this huge store.

Oh my goodness! I found it! I looked up to see who's booth it was and it said "Bountiful." I had just read about this booth on Dream in Cream's blog.

Here it is in Bountiful's booth!

Here it is in my guest bathroom!
Is that not adorable!

So, after I grabbed the suitcase I headed for Dream in Cream's booth! The cute silverplated dish in the suitcase is from her booth.

I had so much fun taking pictures! I love my silverplated dish! I have my eye on a few other items! I'll be back! I was even intrigued with the walls! Tiina, you so creative! Amy...you are really GOING TO WISH YOU WERE HERE after you see these!!!

Essentials for Junkin' Journey!

Before you leave the house, you'll need cash, credit card, and a camera! You never know where you'll end up! I was on my lunch hour running errands and saw a garage sale. I never have any cash, but use the heck out of my charge card! That's when I decided you should always have cash in your wallet! You never know when you'll find treasures!

The camera is for fun! You never know what you might see. A few weeks ago, I saw a man riding his horse on the grassy part between the service road and I35! Only in Texas! It would have made the coolest picture. You could see the cars in the background.

Essentials for Round Top! You'll need a cart, liner or laundry bag for your cart, waterproof boots, bottled water, and cash! Lots of cash!

For a good laugh I put a flag on my cart so when I got lost, Amy could find me! I did wave it a few times! You will also need Deb Taylor at Heritage Haus! Great place to stay and you can read about her on Vintage Mom's blog!

Golightly's Gallery & Lone Star Antiques

Today I visited Golightly's Gallery & Antiques and Lone Star Antiques. Now I'm not Olan Mills! I asked the girls at Golightly's if it was OK if I took pics for my blog. I told them it was free advertising! My one and only follower is my daughter...the reason I started blogging! And come to think of it...I don't think she's even a follower!

The girls at Golightly's told me a little history about someone who used to have a booth there who blogged. I said I bet it is Dream in Cream because that was one of my favorite blogs. So they told me of the two rooms that Dream in Cream had while she was at Golightly's and how creative she was in painting the walls! The one I love is this one...

Is that not adorable! The pics below are at Golightly's. Their website is http://golightlysantiquesandtearoom.blogspot.com/. I didn't take pics at Lone Star Antiques. It is a huge place and I was on a mission to find Dream in Cream's booth. You'll know her booth when you find it! She had some really cute things! It's called Flea. Both places have Tea Rooms so I plan to go back on a Saturday when they're open!

Round Top, Texas

My first Junkin' Journey began in Round Top, March 26, 2009. That's when I got hooked! Amy and I spent most of our time in Warrenton looking for bargins. I have never seen so much stuff in my whole life! Miles and miles...rows upon rows...tents upon tents of "stuff."

That's were we meet real BLOGGERS! It was so strange to actually meet people you've read about in reality! Theresa at Garden Antiques Vintage had given good tips on survival while junkin'. I met Talking Trash and learned of her new baby Bella, and Deb from Deb Did It.

I've never seen so much "stuff" in my life! Miles and miles...tents upon tents! I call that HEAVEN! Link of map: http://www.antiqueweekend.com/AWshowmap.htm

Remember...I am a Vintage Mom and just recently bought a digital camera! So this blogging stuff is new to me! I've had to depend on my daughters to send pics for me to post on my blog! How sad is that! But...no more!!! I have my own camera! I didn't have my camera on this trip, but wait 'til the next time!
